This depends on what you set the firewall to do. Generally if you set it
to allow mail in then it allows the full mail message to pass, so the
virus/worm would go with it. If they were attempting to connect to some
otherwise unassigned port for some secret service, then any good
firewall would block that. The most common setup of a firewall starts
with a rule to block everything, then only opens holes for very specific
services.

However, it strikes me as highly unlikely that Microsoft has purposely
built any secret doors into their systems. With the number of hackers
digging into microsoft products such a hole would soon be discovered,
and even MS would not be able to defend them selves for that. They have
more than enough holes created by sloppy programming that they dont need
any intentional ones.
