I have not evealuated OneCNC. From looking at their website it woudl seem to have similar capabilities to SurfCAM and MasterCAM X. I had to assume that it was as bit spendy as they do not list a price. Looking elsewhere it seems that one could expect to pay 2.5~3.5K which is a long way from most hobbiest budgets and a long way from Cambam's $149.00 price point. OnceCNC may still be an outstandign value as it is a true 3D CAD/CAm package and much less expensive than SurfCAm or MasterCAM.

Hi Jeff,

Did you evaluate OneCNC? If yes, what was your impression?

Have a good day,

While I have access to MasterCAM and SurfCAM I find myself using CamBam
about 99% of the time now. It has holding tabs, does 2D and 3D stuff, etc,
etc (latest beta even has some lathe operations.) A few years ago I
evaluated every Cad/Cam package I could get my hands on and tried CamBam due
to a recommendation of a fellow member of this list. I found it to be such a
great value I now offer it on my website:
http://www.soigeneris.com/CamBam-details.aspx . You can download a fully
functional trial of the current release version at:
http://www.soigeneris.com/Documentation-content.aspx . Give it a try and see
if it meets your needs.

BTW, the choice of Cad/Cam is highly dependent on each person's needs. I
also think Vectric makes great software and recommend it all the time even
though I don't sell it. It is more important to find the package that meets
your needs than anything else.

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Tab/Tag Software

Hi All

Does anyone know of any tabbing/tagging software that will automatically
apply tabs to a 2D cut to stop the cut items from falling from the panel?
It could be applied at any stage really - either at the CAD stage - perhaps
on the dxf file or at the gcode stage.
All of my stuff in this instace will be 2D panel work, but the system can
handle 3d - perhaps on the last pass of a multipass cut, it could leave tabs
(maybe just stack the 2D cuts - 2.5D really).

I've had a look at Vectrics 2dCut which looks OK and can handle the job, but
a bit over the top for what I need as I already have DeskCNC which does
everything (apart from tab cutting that is :-)))

TIA

Neil
