[CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Mach3 homing

Hi all
I got my lathe cnc'ed and been playing around with it. It works fine.
But today I installed home switches on the X and Z and am confused.
I'm used to turbocnc, and on that I used to use G28. It would move off
towards the home switches and then back off, with the display showing
0,0,0. Easy and simple........
On mach, in the diagnostic screen, I can see the buttons 'light' up when I
press the home switches. But if I type G28, the Z goes off towards the
tailstock and the switch has absolutely no effect ??
At first I only had the X home switch set up, with Z not enabled, but the Z
would still move off ?? So then I thought, strangely that I'd HAVE to have
the Z home switch installed, which i did, but that has no effect either.
If I type G28 X0, it goes off in either direction depending on where it is,
but the switch still has no effect.
I have not changed the default values for the home positions in the config.
Right now I just want mach3 to respond to the switches. How does one
perform a simple home function?
Turbocnc also had a 'home axes' option. I can't find this in mach3
A bit long winded, but trying to be clear ablout what I've done so far.
Help appreciated.
Regards
Roland
