Dear Rich,
My modifications were posted to assist any other hobbyist who wished to purchase an effective and cheap stepper driver board for CNC. I have no commercial interest other than attempting to educate fellow travellers.
The outstanding feature of CNC is that it is possible to control movement in two or more axes, thereby creating complex curves. This synchronous movement is computed in Mach 3 and conveyed by the parallel port. The synchrony is totally lost if the data is transmitted by USB. USB stepper driver boards attempt to reconstitute this timing and therefore add another level of complexity. The hobbyist should avoid them and use the parallel port when using Mach3 (KISS - keep it simple stupid)
