  Test it with a different GFI outlet.
It is possible that the GFI is bad, additionally,
verify that the GFI is rated for the amps that
the motor is pulling at full power.
You should also test how many amps the motor is
pulling at it's various RPMs. That in itself
will tell you if the motor is wearing out.
When was the last time you lubed the motor
bearings? If they are dry, the drag will
cause the motor to pull additional amps
at a given RPM.
