Because GFCI is intended primarily to protect against short-circuits
within hand-held devices. It was never intended, and is not recommended,
for properly grounded appliances and equipment. If you feel more
comfortable putting everything on GFCI sockets or breakers, go for it.
It's just not necessary, and is prone to cause spurious faults just as
Don has described.

Think of the load of a fridge, or workshop compressor, and they don't
