A GFCI circuit will drop out if the humidity is too high.

grounding won't stop a fire caused by that. In this case perhaps the
brushes aren't seating properly.
I've seen a few cases of this happening. One was an old powerboard where
the contacts on one socket were a bit loose, I threw that out. Another was
a microwave oven with a blown bulb. The bulb was actually fine, it just
wasn't making contact properly in the socket. A bit of head scratching
occurred while trying to figure out why the breaker kept tripping.
