No, it was totally hard axles. But, the problem is still a bit the
same. The tires
turn at different rates when turning. Linking them all together on each
side
causes large torques to be transmitted between the wheels. If you make the
belts stronger, then it may be impossible to move when turning, that torque
will bind up the motors.
