Not sure how this will work....
but send me your 'old' cnc stuff so you have a wonderfully open and clean work space. :)
If that does not fly, I would offer that the Arduino is a great starter microprocessor. Easy to use, has a huge array of chips you can use and although it is too slow for CNC work it has a lot of functions.
The Arduino can be used with the Lego stuff to add versatility.
