If I understand your question, it has no simple answer. Neither Windows
nor Linux GUIs are time driven. It's all very asynchronous, both
hardware and software. And that's not really the problem. It's more that
it's like trying to hook up some kind linkage to use your car's engine
to roll the windows up and down. You don't try, you just put a little
motor in the door.
