rotary tumbler
for larger loads we use a cement mixer I've also seen a smaller version
made with a 5Gal bucket and a slow gear motor
vibratory tumbler
I'm not sure if there are any tricks to them ,they do look simple enough
ours is a rubber coated trough about 3'x1' with a half moon cross section
to get the media to roll in the trough, 1/3hp motor and a 4 or 5 x1" disk
mounted not to far off center on the motor shaft ,springs in the corners
the motor looks like a standard 1750 rpm induction type
