Doug,

I really think you are OK with the new rectifier as long as its voltage
rating is high enough, like 400V for the 120 ac line.

I suspect your measurements are thrown off by either a bad diode in the old
bridge, or different meters used which will often give different readings on
the pulsed DC output of the rectifiers.
