Looks like a massive welding job not castings. Servo motors and ball screws.

I also found a site where a stiffness analysis was done ... with the purpose of supporting an 8500 Kg. astronomical mirror.
It apparently is capable of adequate stability in 10 m/s winds.
Interesting.
