Joe,
You've gotten some good advice already, here's my $.02
Are you SURE you only have room for one switch. Or do you mean you
have room for just one of a CERTAIN kind of switch? Could be that a
look thru a catalog like digikey MAY show you some alternatives which
will work. Hall-effect switches can be pretty small.
Secondly, do you HAVE to put the switch where you are thinking of
putting it now? It's often possible to re-work the design to
accommodate just this kind of problem. For example, you appear to
have a point on this machine which is only big enough for one switch
(which can be activated by TWO end of travel points. How about
putting TWO switches on the end of the travel and put one switch
tripper where you originally wanted the single switch? Sure, this may
mean some cabling issues to the switches(if they are moving), but it
could also be the way to use the switches you want.(or already have?)
Or... You could use some electronics and/or software to let the
single switch act like two. Could be as simple as a flipflop or set-
reset relay; or get as involved as you wish(maybe adding features to
your machine!)
Hope this helps.
