Thanks
Drag strip I heard or read but quite sure if anyone was on the runway they
gave way when they realized that the sucker was really going to set it down.
My first BAD flying experience was having a Piper Colt aka "The Brick" blow
a crankshaft just after rotating on takeoff. Flight charisterics of this
beast were takeoff 90, fly at 92-95, fell out of the sky at about 85, had no
flaps. I was solo with a total time of about 8 hours. It basicly cut the
crankcase in half, front half with propeller and rear half still attached to
the plane. Windshield and both side windows instantly covered with oil.
I didn't know there was that much oil in an engine.
Only thing I could see was the edge of the runway through the little air
vent in the side window.
Just kept the edge of the runway centered and mushed it back on the runway.
Tower got on the radio and "Wanted to know if I was going to taxi back?"
