Where to start?

Hi there.
I've had my homemade minimill up and running for about a week now but it's getting boring to just watch it move and not cutting anything special. I've downloaded Intellicad and my qustion now is how to make the machine cut the parts that I draw in Intellicad.
For starters I just want to draw a simple rectangle, triangle a star or any other simple figure and have the machine cut it out for me.
What is the easiest way to start learning this CAD-to-DXF-to-G-Code thing? I've downloaded K-Cam and from what I've understand it can import both HPGL and DXF. I also have Stepster and that's what I've been using up until now to drive the machine and it works pretty good.
Thanks for all and any help.
