get into that tax bracket!
I make money hand over fist when I have a manufacturing run going, but
there
are long gaps between them. But, I deduct all the goodies I can,
whether I
have a lot of income that year or not! You can also carry-over some
undeductable
expenses from one slow year to the following year with more income.
On slow years, I pay anywhere from 0-15 % federal taxes, on a really
good
year it can get up close to 30 %. (I also have 6 kids -- (really not MY
idea !!)
and they do give you a tax break, too.) Now, of course, that is 15 or
30 %
of the ADJUSTED gross income, and after business deductions, that is a
WHOLE lot less than the gross proceeds.
If you haven't seen Kiplinger's Tax Cut program, you might look at it.
Usually
available for about $9.95 after rebates at the local OfficeMax type
store,
it does a better job with my taxes (with ALL the business bells and
whistles)
than my old accountant did for $300+. I still need to provide all the
same
records, but I can see how things are going as I enter all the numbers.
It even handles the 50+ items I have in the depreciation schedule, aging
them year by year.
