Sounds to me like this is a potential project for EDM - start with hardened
and tempered tube on a cnc powered horizontal rotary table. Set Z axis feed
to give thread pitch as table rotates and link an EDM circuit to the X-axis.
Then go and have a cup of tea (or two) while it does the business!!! ;o)
