PTFE will cold-flow over time when it is under constant loading. Scott
would do well to check the preload every once in a while. If I wanted
something softer (i.e. less stiff) than copper, I'd probably go for acetal
(Delrin, Celcon, etc.)

BTW, for light-duty sliding contact there is Delrin AF, which is acetal
loaded with PTFE powder as a solid lubricant. It is very nice stuff.
There are similar plastics from other acetal manufacturers, but most all
plastics suppliers sell AF.
