Hi,

I have a stage with a .375" diameter, 1 pitch leadscrew that is 30"
long. Attached to one end is a 440 in/oz servomotor. The other end
presently has a knob which I will remove and replace with a 1,000
line encoder. The load on the slide is 15lbs of lead the motor can
presently accelerate at 4G to 2,000 IPM. That's about 1/3 HP into the
load.

It will be interesting to see how it will behave statically and
dynamically, particularly since the leadscrew is of such a slender
diameter. Will give results tomorrow, good or bad.

There is beauty in an internally consistent theory and there is truth
in objective reality. Both can be loved and honored, just so long as
one always remembers the former is the handmaiden of the latter.
