Can't help with the boxes, but I can add to the fog over the wiring. Neat
and professional don't always go together well. Most wiremen will grab
every wire in sight run them parallel for as far as possible and strangle
them with clips or ties that may or may not bite through the insulation.
They also have a habit of making every wire the same colour. Wonderful for
debugging. So before you start down that road plan out your wiring colours.
Work out which wires take heavy current and have fast switching edges and
which ones are low power control signals. Make sure you keep them well away
from each other. If all else fails and it still looks a rats nest do what
the professionals do, put a label on the back saying "No user serviceable
parts inside". If the lid doesn't come off no one except you will know
whats underneath.
Whatever you do never compromise safety for the sake of looks.
