I am using one of Dan's servo motors and it is working great. I would
suggest that a 1:1 drive ratio will not be successful unless you are driving
something small like a Sherline. I have it on a Shoptask 3 in 1 running at
3:1 reduction. I know Dan has them on a drill mill machine running 2:1. The
3:1 ratio with a 5 tpi screw limits your top speed to about 140 ipm at 24 v.
I know Dan was getting 180 ipm moves on his mill drill at 36 V.

Why do you want to direct drive the screws??
