Hi Marcus,

While I was out today I had another thought for a source of the stone you
want. Shopfitters. I noticed a building near me where they were tearing off
the marble / granite? facings to replace them during a facelift of the
frontage. So the chances are that this old stone would be available at a
reasonable price (probably free) and you could then hire a diamond cutting
disk to trim it to size. It is, of course, polished already on one face.
Demolition yards are another possible source. HTH,
