"simple" ones, and go "professional" only when I absolutely MUST have PTH and
solder-coated!

Bang for buck? I have recently gotten obsolete, but working-perfectly, PC's
for the expense of picking 'em up! You can get NEW "Windows" keyboards for
$4.95 from vendors in CA! I saw some decent, working monochrome EGA monitors
in a "computer store" last month for $19.95! I ordered a Zenith laptop on
E-bay for $9.99 (plus shipping). A Laptop, even if battery won't hold a
charge more than 15 seconds, anymore, with wall-wart to power it, has a
built-in monitor and keyboard, and is light and compact. I run a home-brew
lathe with an OLD Tandy1500HD monochrome laptop. Works perfectly! No need
for 256 colors and Windows-nn for a CNC application!

Guess some are so busy earning a living making chips that they do not like to
think about wiring 'em up to do that FOR them!
