Run the Y axis back toward the column far enough that the protective
slide between the ways can be pushed back a bit. Right above the
Y screw mounting plate, there should be a number stamped into the
knee casting. A more obvious number is on the head itself, but may
not match the machine serial for a variety of reasons. Apparently,
many standard machines made in advance of order have these numbers
match, but machines ordered with options like different spindle taper,
different head or head mounting, etc. may have numbers that don't match.
Obviously if the head is replaced or swapped for maintenance, the
numbers won't match.
