Common ground on Dan's 2A board?

I have a supply with -12, -5.2, +5, +24.
I have a Camtronics 2A board
Can I connect the three motor power connectors to -12 and +24 (getting 36v), and the board input (bypassing the 7805) to ground and +5, or is there a common connection between the two ?
Or, motor power lines: -12 and +24 for 36v
board input (not bypassing 7805) -12 and +5 for 18v
?
Would it be worth the hassle to go from 24 to 36 volts?
