Actually you can use RH V6 with EMC as long as you download a 2.0.36
kernel and compile it with the RTLinux patch.
The point is: the release vendor or version has nothing to do with the
linux kernel version. This means that you are not forced to install the Red
Hat release to run EMC. There are other releases which may be easier to
install for a newbe like Mandrake (www.mandrake.org) or Debian
(www.debian.org). All of them can run a 2.0.36 kernel (or any other
version as a matter of fact).
You dont even need an Intel machine..
