Excessive Quoting / one-liners

on 2001-01-14 09:25:15 UTC
I have been a part of this list for about a year now. I faithfully sift
through the posts and "sponge" up information as it takes my interest... the
key here is "takes my interest"... just like a newspaper, I bypass the stuff
I'm not interested in.
This list has many regular contributing members and several topics on the go
at one time... this makes for LOTS of sifting... of which gets hampered by
the >>>> numerous deep quotes in replies... like reading it all over again
and again, again... to me it makes sense to keep the subject line accurate,
therefore only a brief snip (if that) would be needed in a reply to keep
ones comments in context for the reader.
If a topic is being discussed of which I have knowledge, I will wait and see
what the our regular posting experts have to say on the subject (usually
covering anything I might have to say)... If I see something that I think
has been missed or have an example/experience that is relevant, I will put
in my 2 cents worth in.

I treat this place more like an book (interactive one at that)... I read the
contents, go to the chapter of interest and read away... if the book doesn't
have the answer I am looking for, I ask a question and hopefully another
chapter appears that I can read to get the answer...

Thanks one and all for making this book good reading.
