one of the problems faced is to bring together codes from different types of
machines ,lathes and mills have some different functional requirements and
thats before you start looking at the more specialized machine tools
fer instance I work on a 12 axis lathe that uses codes like M303 ,G433 etc
(thats -start Z3 motor CW- and -thread cutting with counter-spindle [Z4&X4])

unless you know exactly what type of machine the software will get crammed
into you should always consider building some flexibility into it IMO
