You certainly sparked some good information there! - I've filed the lot.

Re the Mavica and also the LCD Viewfinder. Yes a good thing to have, even
essential to have, but DON'T get one with only a LCD viewfinder, and no
optical one. The expensive Mavica I've been using from work has no optical
viewfinder and the LCD is quite impossible to use outdoors on even an
overcast bright day.

I've made a hood and Fresnel lense set up to use it outdoors.
