In answer to your questions, I think a dremel is to light. If you go slow
it should work as a starter. I have chosen a more powerful "rotary Tool"
that is meant for cutting wall board, plastic, wood, and even ceramic tile.
It spins at about 30,000 RPM and has way more power than the dremel.
I will have to modify the bottom bearing to eliminate the side play, but
it should work, as yet it's untested.
PCB software is available from "Digital Design" or something similar.
The name of the program is Z-Trace. (sorry, don't remember the website
just now) It will outline (create the toolpaths ) that "isolate" the pads and
traces from the rest of the surrounding copper. It cost about $300 bucks.
They have programs that accept HPGL files too.
I used BobCad to generate the G code. The most important software is
the Driver software. Something to translate your G code or even HPGL
or DXF file into machine motion (otherwise ANY code is useless). There
are several out there, it should be easy to find.
I 'm interested in the possible purchase of one of your XY tables.
Contact me off list about it. My email is moonlighttech@...
