This is a quick post for folk who don't know what N.A.M.E.S. is all about.
NAMES is an acro whatever for the North American Model Engineering Society.
They have an annual meeting where they show off the millions of hours that
members have spent making stuff. Stuff shown ranges from tiny models of
steam engines, to gas engines, to rather large steam locomotives.
The button graphic this year is a 1/4 scale Offenhauser 4 cykl engine like
the ones that used to rule at Indy back when I was a kid. Last year I
was facinated by a scale Chev 327 that roared to life quite often.
There will be thousands of moving models. There will also be a hands on CNC
showplace and a Saturday noon presentation coordinated by Roland Friestad
of Cardinal Engineering fame. Here are the show details.
