No they don't work fine, that's why they were being thrown out.
mechanically they are good but the controllers are both shot. This
applies to 75% of this type of equipment. Two new Ahha setups and
they will be up and running. As regards tolerances the green one is
on steppers and runs to 0.0005" tolerance but the grey one is on
servo's and runs to 0.0001" tolerance.
end of the year you can write off 40% of the cost against tax. If you
are not a registed business it doesn't apply to you. I only mentioned
it to highlight the fact that a lot of older stuff is getting dumped
to take advantage of these rules.
