Folks:

You don't have to import anything into the States. Most of the Electrical
Supply Houses (GE Supply, Graybar - to name a few) stock these types of
transformers. They typically have four windings on them. Each winding has
the same rating. You connect two for the primary and two for the secondary.
Connect each pair in parallel and you have an isolation transformer for the
lower rated voltage of the transformer. Connect them in series and you have
an isolation transformer for the higher rated voltage. Connect one pair in
series and the other pair in parallel and you have a step-up or step-down
transformer.

KVa stands for KiloVolt/Amps so a 2KVa transformer is capable of delivering
the equivalent of 2000 volts at 1 amp or 1 volt at 2000 amps. So if it gives
110 volts output, this will be, theoretically, at 18.18 amps. You do,
however, have to allow for losses of maybe 20% and so a workable figure
would be around 14 amps. The 6 KVa type would give around 43 amps.
