  Although not a frequent contributor this this list, I have found the
information here extremely useful.
The best information is that which allows us to decide for ourselves if
something is true, and that is the sort most common here.
It appears that most of the posters here are of the DIY type, and the list
is for the benefit of DIY's, so what could be better?
Example:
I just picked up a microwave oven from the side of the road. Took it to
pieces, removed magnetron (cool!) and transformer. Found the windings to be
as described here, that is, separated along the center pole of the magnetic
structure. Cut the secondary winding off the transformer with old wood
chisel.
The transformer laminations are welded together.
Is there are easy way to wind a secondary on this coil?
or do I have to thread all the wire for each turn through the space where
the original winding was. Not looking forward to that.
