small stuff (list goals/aims/results?)

Im new to this group and think its got a good balance some people
don't talk much probably because when they joined they didn't realise
they would receive so many emails and the fact that they don't go
online much. When they do they are overwhelmed with mail and probably
reading stuff from months ago. The ones that can keep up probably
like me think they don't have a lot to offer, but that might be the
person who chirps up when a question that fits there particular skill
come along. How about a chemist who wants to run some CNC machine
for doing some sort of tests (I've seen them on TV). when the
question came up about bacteria in cutting fluids. We can all learn
form each other.

I have a little knowledge on PIC Chips, Stepper Controllers, I have
built unipoler / bipoler drivers big ones and little ones, I wrote a
program in Q-basic to cut model wings that was before I found a web
site dedicated to the subject, I've also built lighting shows using
KCam to control the steppers with mirrors attached.

Since joining this group I have built a wooden CNC engraving machine
from old printers (motors guides and transistors for the drives),
three pic chips, draw slides, dermal, threaded rod, and mdf. I use it
to make circuit boards for electronic projects. It cost £106 to build
including the dermal and the home made stepper controllers.
The (info from Ah-ha! on BOSS's/HV drivers) was really informative
and has given me some useful ideas especially modifying the steppers
to bipolar and encouraged me to continue development of my lo voltage
drives, currently running at 30V 1A which makes 5V 500mA motors smell
a bit naff but they do spin very fast if you excelerate them to speed.

I like all things electrical, mechanical or computer related so CNC
seems like a good hobby and it doesn't have to be to expensive.
