Thanks for the lead. Chris. How much did your components cost you,
and/or how would a commercial unit cost?

A stepper motor misses a step or more when the torque is inadequate.
What happens when this happens with a servo motor? It stalls? With an
airplane/car engine,we will know for sure when it happens, but with
the servo motor how is stalling detected? Does a stalled servo pauses
until the torque catches up or does the motor stop completely.

What I am trying to figure out is, how do we test to see if the
torque supplied by a drive train is sufficient for the job. Big amp
drivers and motors cost big bucks. Still trying to go cheapskate.
Just trying to figure out a way to figure (test) the cheapest motive
force required to drive a given load.
