Tom:
You might want to vector to www.cadopia.com and download a free version of
Intellicad-2000. It uses the Autocad DWG file format as its native format
and has a command set that is nearly identical to Autocad's. It's a 13 Mbyte
file, so it takes a while to download, but it's well worth it.
If you're not "tied" to Autocad, you might also want to buy a special copy
of VectorCAD that Fred Smith from IMService is offering until 7/4/01. It's a
full featured 3D cad program; cost is $15.00 - which is next to nothing if
you've looked at some CAD prices. Besides being a good cad program, you can
upgrade it to have a full CAM ability to generate G-Codes if you set your
shop up for CNC.

Himy name is Tom and Ihave been a machinist for over 30 years!
finally I am getting ready to open my own small shop! I would like to
be able to do my prints on my computer, but first I have to find and
learn either CAD Basics or auto-CAD, whichever is easier to learn!
Now my problem is I can't seem to locate anywhere near me that has
either program!Could someone please send me a URL or snail mail
address for a supplier who handles these programs? I am tired of
sitting hunched over my old drafting table trying to design things!
Thanks for your time and I would appreciate any help you could give
me!
