I heartily agree. I use SolidWorks at the "day job", and it is the best
design program I've ever used (VersaCAD, CadKey, AutoCad, Euclid being the
also-rans)

One thing to be aware of: Unless you never plan to share designs or work
with other vendors who use SolidWorks, you are virtually required to be on
the maintenance program also, because each (yearly) major release changes
the file format, they are not backwards compatible, and there is no
provision for saving in an earlier version.
