Not mentioned so far is that the A&S mill marketed by Bridgeport is a
HORIZONTAL mill. These are not fashonable for the home shop machinist, but for
shear raw metal removal, and the availablity of affordable used tooling there
is nothing like a big horizontal mill. They are cheap too, and tend to have
reliable spindle motor driven power feeds. I second the idea that using one
for CNC is not really practical. One rarely sees CNC horizontal mills of any
description.
