Thanks for the pictures and notes of the linear encoder mounting. I
do like your totally enclosed design - I just need to see if I can fit
it on my lathe, since it basically takes up twice as much space as the
measurement range. Having gone ahead and bought the maximum 34"
strip, I'd hate to cut it now. I think the rear V way of the south
bend is partially clear behind the headstock so I could clamp below
it, but I'm not sure of the gear box cover on the end. Have to look
at it this evening.
