Hi Alan
A list of packages for the Developer's install can be found on the CD under
RedHat/base/comps - Scroll through the file fo the section headed Development.
The main packages to install are:
dev86
bison
egcs
egcs-c++
emc-source
glibc-devel
kernel-source
kernel-headers
make
rcslib-source
XFree86-devel
You may also require :
flex
ncurses-devel
These are all found on the CD in RedHat/RPMS - Find the package you want to
install, one click on it will bring up the KDE package manager - Using this,
you can install and remove any package (with caution).
Note - RPM packages usually have to be installed in a specific order to satisfy
'dependencies'. As long as you install ALL the above packages, you can untick
the ' Check Dependencies' box.
One file that may be of use to you if this is the first time compiling EMC is
http://www.linuxcnc.org/bdi/RPMS/BDI-build.tgz - Download it, transfer to the
BDi computer, and once you've located it, right click on the file and open it
in the Archiver. Extract, and run !
You may experience some problems using the floppy drive via the Desktop icon.
Please read the errata at http://www.linuxcnc.org/bdi for a fix.
Regards, Paul.
