EMC with steppers

Ok, trying to make the motors move the correct number of turns per
inch.
It's a Sherline, 20 turns per inch, 1600 steps per turn (8:1 microstepping).
So 32,000 steps per inch.
With this setting:
INPUT_SCALE = 8000 0
It runs, but everything I make is 1/4 scale.
But when I change:
INPUT_SCALE = 32000 0
EMC crashes the system on startup!
???
