previous version of DXF. If the spline was not supported in say version 12,
it will automatically be converted to an entity type that was supported.
Probably a linear interpolation. That way you can draw with the latest
Autocad styles and still save in older/simpler formats. I know this works for
ellipses and I think, depending on the version ,polyarcs. It may not be very
effective for 3D entities however.
