As a learning exercise, I've been working on duplicating a part that
my company uses to align optical components. It's a 2-1/2D part.

My attempts to use Vector (using the CAD features only)->Dxf->Ace-

enough" to the desired result yet.

Using the CAM features in Vector and generating G-code with it works
much better -- I have G-code that is pretty close to the desired
result, and did so fairly quickly. (As one would rightly expect from
a CAM system...)

Are most people using the DXF-to-Gcode converters doing so to make
flat (2D) parts, while 2-1/2D and 3D users "have to" go with a CAM
software?
