Check out Tony's site, he describes how to engrave dials as part of a
project to BUILD a rotary table.

P.S. Tony describes how to "lay out" the dials in CAD, then use the 'Y'
axes to drive the rotary table. That's CNC! Although you can also do
it by hand.
