Jon,
I think it depends on where you bolt your additions to. The Upgrade package
is dovetailed to the bed of the lathe. It does not bolt to any existing
crosslide etc. It uses linear ball bearings (NSK) and such and is fairly
rigid. All structural components appear to be 3/4" steel plate or thicker.
The base plate is about 1.5 inches thick. It's much more rigid than the
carraige on a smaller South Bend.
