Rab,

If you are building a small router I would suggest making
a moving table for the X axis and have the Y and Z axis on
the bridge. Makes it much simpler as there are no "skewing"
problems with the gantry and having to drive it from both ends.

I built mine out of 80/20 aluminum extrusion and for a router
it works great. I used THK rails, servo motors, Gecko G340
drives and ballscrews.

I'm not sure that there is any such thing as low cost
linear slides or extrusion :(
