Good ideas on the low cost interface boards. Anything that's commonly
used in a PC is going to be dirt cheap, if it works for you that's not a
bad approach. I do seem to remember some 4/6 axis quadrature card built
by some no name company for something like $200. This was several years
ago and I can't remember the name. A search through magazines like
Embedded Systems or Circuit Cellar may turn up some low cost cards like
this. Since my first home NC project is going to be steppers running
open loop, the printer port is more than adequate for me!
