vacuum pump and valve for several hundred $ on eBay. I got a perfectly
working Sargent-Welch mechanical vacuum pump that I'm keeping.
My video monitor on my CNC milling machine came out of the trash,
it was just out of focus! I got another one, a 17" CAD-quality monitor
in the same shape. I've got a couple others that have slightly more
complex repairs needed. I got a complete and almost running Silicon
Graphics IRIS-3030 workstation a couple of years ago, and bought some
boards from a guy in Germany that fixed it for $100. I just got 2 really
nice
office chairs that have nothing seriously wrong with them. One had dry
bearings in the roll-around wheels, the other one has some spots on the
fabric. I got another chair, draftsman-type with the foot rail that I made
a pipe extension for, and it is perfect for sitting at the milling machine
for hours, loading parts and clicking the run button. I got a positive
displacement pump from a heat exchanger tank that I might use if I ever
find an affordable TIG welder, so i can have closed loop water cooling
of the torch. I could go on, but those are some of the memorable finds!
